Feature · Secure sharing

Share a password.
Don't send it in a message.

For a while - with an encrypted link anyone can open. For good - in a shared family or company vault, with permissions for each person. No more passwords in chats and notes.

Available on: Personal, Family, Team, Business.

01 / Ways to use it

For a while or for good?

Inlockly offers two ways to share. Pick the one that fits the situation - both work on the zero-knowledge model.

Item link

For a while - for anyone.

When a password needs to reach someone outside your account: a guest, a repair technician, or a contractor.

  • The recipient doesn't need an account or the app.
  • Valid from one hour to 30 days, or one-time.
  • Only for specific email addresses, with a verification code.
  • Revoke access with one click.

Personal plan and up.

Shared vault

For good - for your family and team.

When several people use the same data every day: your household, your team, or the whole company.

  • Everyone has their own account and a private vault next to the shared one.
  • You set permissions for each person individually.
  • A change made by one person reaches everyone instantly.
  • Leaving the group removes access to the shared data.

On the Family (up to 5 people), Team, and Business plans.

02 / How it works

A link in three steps.

  1. Pick an item and an expiration.

A link can last an hour, a day, or 7, 14, or 30 days. It can also be one-time - it expires after it's first opened.

  2. Choose the recipients.

Anyone with the link, or only specific email addresses. In that case, recipients confirm with a code sent to their inbox.

  3. Stay in control and revoke.

You see active links right next to the item and can revoke them with one click. Expired links stay in the history for 30 days.

03 / In practice

Shared vaults for families and businesses.

One mechanism, two worlds. At home, simplicity matters; at work - control and accountability.

Household essentials in one place.

The Family plan gives you up to 5 accounts with all features and a shared family vault. Everyone also has their own private vault - the family only sees what goes into the shared one.

Inlockly for families
  • A shared vault for Wi-Fi, streaming services, bills, and documents.
  • Permissions for each member - for example, view-only for kids.
  • Move items between your private and family vaults.
  • The admin invites and approves family members.
  • If someone forgets their master password, the admin can restore their access to family data.

Company access with permissions.

On the Team and Business plans, shared data lives in folders - with permissions for people and departments, change history, and an activity log.

Explore shared folders
  • Unlimited folders - by department, project, or client.
  • 13 permissions per folder, including sign-in without seeing the password.
  • Departments with permissions for whole groups of people (Business plan).
  • Change history and a log - who changed what, and when.
  • One account can belong to multiple companies.

04 / Capabilities

You decide who, what, and for how long.

  • Recipients without an account.

The link opens in a regular browser. Your plumber, babysitter, or accountant doesn't need to install Inlockly.

  • Expiration and one-time links.

From one hour to 30 days, or until it's first opened. After that, the content is no longer available.

  • Only for the people you choose.

A list of email addresses and a verification code sent to the recipient. A stranger who gets hold of the link won't see a thing.

  • Shared vaults for the long run.

Your family and team work from the same data. When one person changes a password, everyone else gets it instantly.

  • Permissions apply everywhere.

Without permission to view a password, you can't see it in the shared vault or pass it on in a link.

  • Everything under control.

Active and expired links next to each item and in settings, and shared vault members in the admin dashboard.

05 / Security

Not even we can read what you share.

Links and shared vaults work on the zero-knowledge model, just like the rest of your vault. Only the people you give the keys to can read the data.

  • The key is in the link, not on the server.

Link contents are encrypted with a new key stored in the part of the address after the # sign. Browsers never send that part to the server.

  • A vault key for each person.

The shared vault key reaches each member encrypted with their public key (RSA-OAEP). The server never sees it in plain form.

  • Attempt limits.

Too many attempts to open a link or enter a verification code block further attempts for a while.

06 / Good to know

Have questions?
Start here.

What's the difference between a link and a shared vault?

A link is for handing over an item once or for a short time to someone outside your account - it lasts up to 30 days. A shared vault is a permanent place for data your family or team uses, with permissions for each person.

Does the link recipient need an Inlockly account?

No. The link opens in a browser. If you limit it to specific email addresses, the recipient confirms with a code sent to their inbox.

Can my family or team see my private vault?

No. Your private vault is encrypted with your key and kept separate from the shared one. Others only see the items you move or add to the shared vault yourself.

What happens when a link expires?

The link stops working, and the shared content can no longer be opened. A record of the expired link stays in the history for 30 days.

Which plan lets me share?

Links - the Personal plan and up. A shared family vault - the Family plan (up to 5 people). Shared folders with permissions - the Team and Business plans.
